A customer came to us with the intention of extending their parking and adding a safe playground area for the children. At the time it was a sloping rocky hill and that could not be used for anything besides providing an environment for weeds. We grabbed our equipment and got to work

We took a sloping weed infested backyard and transformed it into an aesthetic playground

The first thing we needed was to construct the 1,000 square foot rock wall. With quite a few options of boulders we went with a deep blue and purple rock  pulled locally from “Beef Hollow” The size of the rock allowed us to maximize the parking area and retain the once sloping hill. The color blended into the surrounding landscape and gave it a very natural look.

Now it was time to prep for turf. We excavated all the weeds and rocks to give us a clean slate to install their playground turf. To prevent sluffing of compacted fines we added in a brick and border edging. After thoroughly compacting and leveling we were ready to lay the turf.

The customer wanted to add a playset  for the children on the turf so we installed a ⅜” padding underneath which has a 4 foot fall rating. Cutting the turf to blend in to the rock wall and borders gave it that instinctive touch. As we came to our final steps we made sure that the turf was securely set and infilled. Using a power brush the infill allows the blades of turf to stand up and provide cushion under foot.

The project was complete. Our customer was very pleased with the communication during the process and how quick and efficiently it was installed. They were able to add their playset and the children are out safely playing on it everyday. We enjoyed each step of the way and were happy to create a useful backyard for this family.
